How Long Does It Take to Delete Your Google Photos?
Enter how many photos and videos you want to delete. The calculator estimates the time for three methods: clicking photos one by one, selecting ranges with Shift-click, and letting PhotoWipe do it. Every assumption is editable, so you can match your own speed.
These are estimates, not promises. In all three cases the photos go to the trash first. Emptying the trash afterwards is a single click whatever the method.
How the estimate works
- One by one = photos × seconds per photo. Realistic only for small numbers: nobody clicks 10,000 check circles in a row.
- Shift-click = number of batches × minutes per batch. This is the fastest manual method. Learn it in how to select all photos in Google Photos.
- PhotoWipe = photos ÷ items per minute. It runs by itself in a tab while you do something else. Your part is choosing the amount, confirming the account and, at the end, emptying the trash.
Tips to go faster, whatever the method
- Use a computer, not a phone. Range selection is much faster with a mouse.
- Empty the trash between big rounds if Google says it’s full. See how to empty the Google Photos trash.
- Turn off backup on your phone first, or deleted photos can come back. Details in delete Google Photos but keep them on your phone.
